How I got into this racket
When I was a college student, one of my professors asked me for help with his PowerPoints. He taught a Core Humanities course (they also call it Western Civ, depending on where you go) because he loves history.
For him, that meant not only the names of monarchs, the dates when empires fell, or the locations of battles. He wanted his students to get a feel for the art, the literature and the technology that came with each period of history that he taught.
He already had a student offering him "help." This involved copy-and-pasting his copious lecture notes, in tiny print, onto a PowerPoint slide, and then asking to be paid!
I told this professor to try me out instead because he would never go back. After I sent him a PowerPoint, written in simple language that college students could understand - even before their Starbucks kicked in - he never did.
Since then, I have been a journalist and copywriter, working in a wide variety of styles, genres and subjects; my portfolio is here. My current specialty: Grant writing.
